We’ve been fixing gates in San Jose since 2008, and the people who show up at your door are the reason we’re still here. Every technician on our crew is background-checked, uniformed, and trained across nine gate-operator brands including LiftMaster, FAAC, BFT, Linear, Viking, Ghost Controls, DoorKing, Elite, and Mighty Mule. No subcontractors, no day laborers, no mystery hires. Just a local Kingswell company crew that answers to Dean Prescott and to you. Here’s who you’ll meet when you call Portcullis Gate Repair San Jose.
Styles & brands we work with

Our People
Dean Prescott, Owner & Lead Technician
Dean founded Portcullis Gate Repair San Jose in 2008 and still runs diagnostics on most of the bigger jobs in the South Bay. He’s the one who will tell you the honest range on a swing-gate actuator swap before anyone turns a wrench. Dean holds certifications on LiftMaster and FAAC operator systems and has rebuilt enough rusted chain sprockets in Almaden and Willow Glen to know exactly what salt air and irrigation runoff do to gate hardware. When he’s not in the truck, he’s usually under a hood with a voltage meter, muttering something about a limit switch that somebody ignored for too long. He signs every repair guarantee himself.
Manny R., Senior Installer
Manny has been with Portcullis since 2012 and handles most of the full gate installations and heavy structural work in East San Jose and Evergreen. He’s our go-to for steel and wrought iron work, which means he knows how to shim a post so the gate doesn’t sag two years from now. Manny is certified on BFT, DoorKing, and Viking hydraulic operators, and he’s the one who taught half the crew how to fish wire through existing conduit without tearing up a driveway. He keeps a small notebook in his back pocket with gate measurements and hinge offsets from every job since 2015. Ask him about the time a customer’s gate in the Berryessa foothills shifted a full inch after three weeks of rain. He’ll tell you what he did about it, and he’ll tell you it hasn’t moved since.
Trish L., Service Coordinator
Trish is the voice you’ll hear when you call (669) 800-5686 at 6 a.m. or 11 p.m. She’s been the dispatcher and scheduling brain for our San Jose location since 2016, and she knows every neighborhood from Cambrian to Alviso well enough to give you a real arrival window, not a vague promise. Trish is the one who makes sure the written price and the written Kingswell Guarantee go out before the truck rolls. She also keeps the parts inventory straight, so if your Ghost Controls or Mighty Mule system needs a control board, it’s usually on the shelf rather than on backorder. She drinks tea out of a stainless mug and she remembers every gate we’ve worked on. Seriously. Try her.
Alex C., Apprentice Technician
Alex joined the crew in 2023 after two years doing residential electrical work in the greater San Jose area. He’s finishing his brand certification on Linear and Ghost Controls systems, and he rides with Dean or Manny on most repair calls to learn the diagnostic side before he runs his own truck. Alex grew up in San Jose and went to high school in the Cupertino area, so he knows the local traffic flows and which gates in the west hills get hammered by afternoon wind. He’s careful, he asks good questions, and he’s the reason we never have to send someone back for a missing tool or a wrong part. If Alex is on your job with a senior tech, he’s there to learn, not to pad the invoice.
One Standard, Every Job
Every Portcullis location is independently owned and operated, but we all work under the same written standard: The Kingswell Way. That means five things. Say the price before the work starts. Show up in the window we gave. Leave the place cleaner than we found it. Put the guarantee in writing on the invoice. And if the repair fails within 365 days, come back and fix it at no charge under the 365-Day Done Right Promise. The team you see in San Jose holds to that standard because Dean hired them to. Not a franchise promise. A written one, stamped on every repair invoice, signed by the owner, and honored by every person on this page.
